AGAINN!!
AGAINNN!!
Saturday evenings are the most boring evenings if you have to stay at home. Mom was very bored and asked Rishi to accompany her to the temple AGAIN.
Mom: Rishi , come let us both go to the temple .
Rishi: Mom this is too much. Already you took me twice to the temple last week. Now again you want me to come. Please ma. Leave me in the house. You can go and come.
Mom: I dont want to leave you alone in the house Rishi. You will end up sitting like a couch potato in front of the tv. Instead you come with me. It will be a change for you.
Rishi: NO ma. you can lock the house and go. I will be in the basket ball court . After you come you call me.
Mom: No Rishi you just come with me.
Rishi: Ma it is the same bus, same route, round and round and round to the same temple.
Mom: Ya add one more thing. same bus, same route, same temple accompanying the same Mom.
Rishi: Ma you are so weird. Ok I have no other choice I will come. But on one condition. This time I will use my stop watch. Ten minutes only for you to spend inside the temple. If you dont come after ten minutes, then I will leave you alone and go home . OK? Deal ??
Mom: I have a better deal Rishi. You come to the temple and on the way back I will get you a Subway sandwich. How is this deal?
Rishi: Ma this sounds a better deal. Sometimes even you think logically.
They both finished praying and after that Rishi asked: What is the special occasion ma. I see the temple decorated?
Mom: Ya yesterday was Thirukalyanam function.
Rishi: What is that?
Mom: That means Rama and Seetha's wedding took place yesterday.
There was a pause . Rishi opened his eyes wide with an open mouth. There was a big question mark inbetween his eyebrows. He was not convinced with the answer.
Rishi: What , I thought they were already married and were living in heavenly abode.
Mom: Yes they are already married but every year we do it to celebrate it like how we celebrate our wedding anniversary.
Rishi: But you told me they got married yesterday.
Mom, though visits the temple often is not very knowledgeable about these particulars. Most of her visits are with a big wish list. Still she had to give an answer to her Guru son.
Mom: Yes when they got married in heaven we people couldnt see it. thats why they get married on Earth every year so that we can be part of the ceremony.
Now Rishi had another doubt.
Rishi: Ma, then why dont human beings get married every year again and again.
Mom : Most of the human beings regret for having gotten married once , then why would they want to get married every year.
Rishi: Ya true, it is such a waste of money and time to get married.
Anyways I am not going to get married.
Thank God the bus came and saved mom from further question and answer sessions. Rishi was very happy because he got his subway sandwich . Yes it was a DONE DEAL!!!

வெட்டிச் சாய்க்கப்படும் தேக்கு,
இவற்றிற்குண்டு மறுவாழ்வு,
ஆனால்,
ரத்தம் சுண்டியப்பின்
மனிதனுக்கில்லை வாழ்வு!!

Guru Son
Guru Son!!
April 14th! Mom decided to take Rishi to the temple because it was Tamil New Year.
Mom: Rishi lets go to the temple .
Rishi: What is the occassion ma?
Mom: Today is Tamil New Year , auspicious day. You have started your 9th grade. You come to the temple and pray to God to guide you through these two years so that you can do well in your board exams
.
Rishi reluctantly accepted mom's suggestion. Both mom and son boarded a bus to go to the temple. As soon as they got into the bus Rishi was wired with his earphones.
Mom: Rishi lets go to the temple .
Rishi: What is the occassion ma?
Mom: Today is Tamil New Year , auspicious day. You have started your 9th grade. You come to the temple and pray to God to guide you through these two years so that you can do well in your board exams
.
Rishi reluctantly accepted mom's suggestion. Both mom and son boarded a bus to go to the temple. As soon as they got into the bus Rishi was wired with his earphones.
Mom: Rishi , 24/7 you are with your earphones. Dont you feel like looking at the trees, houses outside ?
Rishi: I have seen this so many times ma. Nothing new.
Mom: Rishi you have to learn to enjoy the small things in nature.
Rishi: Who said I dont enjoy ? Its only that my way of enjoyment is different from that of yours.
Mom: If that is the case then atleast you should know how to share your emotions with others.
Rishi: Ma, I dont want to be an emotional fool like you with relations ma. I will become a business man and I can't be an emotional person while taking decisions.
Rishi: I have seen this so many times ma. Nothing new.
Mom: Rishi you have to learn to enjoy the small things in nature.
Rishi: Who said I dont enjoy ? Its only that my way of enjoyment is different from that of yours.
Mom: If that is the case then atleast you should know how to share your emotions with others.
Rishi: Ma, I dont want to be an emotional fool like you with relations ma. I will become a business man and I can't be an emotional person while taking decisions.
This was lesson number one for mom. "Mom is an emotional fool"
The bus was going up the hill. It was a nice scenic road. Mom was enjoying looking outside. Travelling by an ac bus itself is a luxury and that too just with few people in the bus you feel even more awesome. Mom took that particular route just to enjoy the scenic view.
Rishi: How long will it take to reach the temple ma?
Mom: It will take another ten minutes .
Rishi: If we had taken the usual route dont you think we could have reached by now?
Mom: Yes Rishi. This takes just extra ten minutes thats all. I dont think it makes any difference. But look at the view. It is so beautiful.Look you can see the sea from here.
Rishi :Ma it is the same sea we see every week while crossing ECP. . I have so many things to do at home. Now since you have taken ten extra minutes of my time I want you to do like what I say.
Mom: What is it ?
Rishi:When we reach the temple you dont spend too much time like usual. Make sure YOU PRAY WITH PACE AND PRECISION. And also dont forget to be PRECISE in your prayers.
Mom: I pray for everyone Rishi . I cant be precise.
Rishi: Then just dont pray for everyone. Pray for yourself and come quickly.
Mom was like :"What?" What do you mean by precise in my prayers?
Rishi: Ya ma, just cut short your prayers and make it fast so that we can reach home fast.
Mom: It will take another ten minutes .

Rishi: Ma what does generation gap mean? how many years of difference mean a generation?
Mom: Rishi we can say every ten years difference will mean a generation gap. There is a difference in the thinking, ideas, approach, everything.
Rishi: So you mean to say you are three generations behind me. No wonder now I understand why you say certain weird things now and then.
Even though mom is walking on the road she closes her eyes for a minute and takes a deep breath.
Rishi: Ma what does generation gap mean? how many years of difference mean a generation?
Mom: Rishi we can say every ten years difference will mean a generation gap. There is a difference in the thinking, ideas, approach, everything.
Rishi: So you mean to say you are three generations behind me. No wonder now I understand why you say certain weird things now and then.
Even though mom is walking on the road she closes her eyes for a minute and takes a deep breath.
Lesson number 3.She is almost in stone age according to her son.
When they reached the temple they both did their prayers. Rishi finished his in a jiffy. Of course Mom listened to her Guruson. Unlike her usual temple visits she finished off her prayers in few minutes. They were about to leave the temple when Rishi came up again,
Rishi: Ma , you know what ? God answered my prayers immediately today.
Mom was surprised.
Mom: Rishi , how can God answer your prayers in few minutes. Your board exams are only two years from now?
Rishi: Maaaa, it is not about that. I have been wanting to reach a level in my game . I have been trying since so many months. Today I prayed to God that I should reach it soon like even before I left the temple. . Before you finished your prayers he answered my prayers . I already reached that level, I wished in the game.
Mom had absolutely no words to speak. She had brought him to the temple hoping he would pray for his studies. And throughout the time they were together all that was in his mind was how to reach the level he wished in the game.
Rishi: Ma , you know what ? God answered my prayers immediately today.
Mom was surprised.

மகள் வாங்கி தந்த
வண்ணமிகு டி-ஷர்டை

கரு மேகக் கூட்டுக்குள்
அமைதியாய்
நீ இருக்கும் வரை
அழகு மயிலும்
தோகை விரித்தாடும்!
சிறு சிறு தூறலாய்
மூக்கின் நுனி நீ தொடும் நொடி
சிறு குழந்தையின் நாக்கு தானாய்
வெளி வந்து உனை சுவைக்கும்!
மழை அருவியாய்
நீ நிலம் வந்து விழும் காலம்
பயிர் எல்லாம் பச்சை வண்ணம் பூசிக்கொள்ளும்!!
கட்டுக் கடங்கா காளைப்போல்
காட்டாற்று வெள்ளமென பாயும் நேரம்
சிறு உயிர் கூட கூட்டுக்குள்
அடங்கி போகும்!!
உனை குளம் வெட்டி காப்பதா?
தூர் எடுத்து தடுப்பதா?
அணைக் கட்டி அணைப்பதா?
இல்லை நீ கடல் கலக்க விடுவதா?
விடை அறிந்தும் அறியாமலும் தியானிக்கின்றோம்!!!

All Fools' day
April 1st- brings back those nostalgic memories of school days -- ink splash on uniform, AF carved on potatoes to be used as stamps, silly pranks like , "yeh look there is a snake, there is a lizard" . Once you become a victim of a prank you are very sad, but very happy when someone is made a victim of your pranks. Gone are those days when we were not able to take sportively the thought of being fooled even for fun . As children we were very happy to play fool on others not knowing what thrown up then will come back later . Now as adults we are being fooled in so many ways and by so many people-- so called politicians, bureaucratic authorities,business men, religious gurus,educators,scientists, media, relatives, neighbours, friends, terrorists, doctors, engineers, name any profession , there are always the black sheep sitting there to fool us . No more do we get angry by being fooled. We have learnt to take it in our stride. Anywhere we turn we are being taught to have positive thinking and spread positive vibrations.
